The first Eureka moment struck during Dr. D’s doctoral studies. Struggling with a challenging measurement and operationalization problem for his dissertation, he spent months searching for a solution without success. Under immense pressure to meet a tight one-week deadline to come up with a workable construct, he made the bold decision to let go and take a three-day break. On the third day, while running alone in the forest, the breakthrough idea suddenly emerged, demonstrating the transformative power of incubation.
The second Eureka moment came over Chinese New Year in 2003. After a year of deep soul-searching about his true purpose, Dr. D experienced a flash of enlightenment while observing the sunset after an afternoon of reading by a swimming pool. This powerful realization provided total clarity about his identity and mission, inspiring him to leave a well-paying international corporate banking career at Deutsche Bank and embark on a new path.
